B767 CAPT INADVERTENTLY TAXIED PAST RELOCATED HOLD SHORT LINE IN DAL.

Narrative

WHEN TAXIING ON TXWY C TO RWY 13R SAW NEW HOLD SHORT LINE AS I PASSED OVER IT. AS SOON AS I REALIZED IT I STOPPED ACFT. ESTIMATE NOSE GEAR WAS JUST PAST LINE. AT END OF RWY IS HOLD BLOCK AND I CAN'T FIGURE OUT HOW YOU WOULD GO INTO HOLD BLOCK WITHOUT XING NEW HOLD SHORT LINE. IT WAS DARK AND JUST AFTER I STOPPED WE WERE GIVEN TKOF CLRNC; SO DIDN'T HAVE TIME TO STUDY SITUATION (ALSO DARK AND HARD TO SEE). RWY 13R SIGN ALSO WAS NOT LOCATED AT HOLD LINE BUT FURTHER TOWARD RWY. JUMPSEATER SAID HE WAS ABOUT TO SAY SOMETHING TO ME ABOUT NEW HOLD LINE BUT THEN SAW I HAD STOPPED. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: THE REPORTER STATED THAT ALTHOUGH HE DOES NOT OPERATE INTO DAL ON A REGULAR BASIS; HE RECALLS THE HOLD SHORT LINE PLACED JUST PRIOR TO ENTERING THE RWY; AS WITH MOST ARPTS. THE COCKPIT JUMPSEATER INDICATED THAT THE LINE HAD BEEN RELOCATED 'A FEW MONTHS AGO' AND IS OFTEN MISSED BY TAXIING ACFT. THE REPORTER STATED THAT THE LINE IS NOW LOCATED SOUTH OF THE LARGE HOLDING PAD FOR RWY 13R; AND HE BELIEVES THE ILLUMINATED RWY SIGN IS PLACED AT AN ANGLE RATHER THAN DIRECTLY FACING APPROACHING TFC ON TXWY 'C.'
