CABIN ATTENDANT ON SF34 DETAILS PRECAUTIONARY EMERGENCY PREPARATIONS FOLLOWING AN ENGINE SHUTDOWN FOR UNSPECIFIED REASONS.
AFTER BEVERAGES WERE SERVED; THE CAPT CHIMED ME AND INFORMED ME THAT WE WERE HAVING ENG TROUBLE. HE SAID WE WERE GOING TO RETURN TO ZZZ AND BEFORE LNDG HE WOULD HAVE TO SHUT THE R ENG DOWN. AFTER I HUNG UP; I WALKED TO REAR WHERE THE PAX WERE AND INFORMED THEM THAT WE WERE GOING TO BE RETURNING TO ZZZ DUE TO A MECHANICAL PROB AND I WOULD UPDATE THEM WHEN I RECEIVED MORE INFO FROM THE CAPT. I REASSURED THEM SO FAR EVERYTHING WAS OK. I WENT BACK UP FRONT AND BEGAN TO SECURE THE CABIN; SECURING THE GALLEY; COLLECTING ANY TRASH. ABOUT 15 MINS LATER THE CAPT CHIMED ME AND STATED THAT THIS WOULD BE A PRECAUTIONARY EMER; FOR ME TO PREPARE THE CABIN AND HE WOULD INFORM THE PAX OF WHAT WAS HAPPENING. THE CAPT USED THE PA AND I GOT THE EMER BRIEFING FROM MY MANUAL. I CALMLY READ THE PRECAUTIONARY BRIEFING AND WHEN INTO THE PRE-ARR ANNOUNCEMENT; GIVING THEM HOW MUCH TIME BEFORE LNDG -- 30 MINS; ASKING THE PAX TO BE SURE TO REMOVE AND PUT AWAY EVERYTHING THEY HAD BEEN USING. I THEN WALKED TO THE BACK TO ENSURE THAT EACH PAX WAS SECURED IN THEIR SEATBELTS AND THEY WERE. I WENT TO MY JUMPSEAT AND SECURED MYSELF. THE R ENG WAS LATER SHUT OFF AND NO ONE PANICKED. THE CAPT DID THE CLRED FOR LNDG CHIME AND I USED THE PA TO GIVE THAT ANNOUNCEMENT. I THEN ASSUMED THE FLT ATTENDANT BRACE POS. AS STATED BEFORE THE PAX HAD BEEN ASSURED THAT THIS SHOULD BE A NORMAL LNDG. WE HAD A SAFE LNDG.
