AT THE END OF A LONG DUTY DAY IN A B757 WITH NO GND AIR CONDITIONING; A FLT ATTENDANT DEPLOYED A SLIDE OPENING A DOOR WHILE WAITING FOR PAX SVC TO ARR 15 MIN LATE.

Narrative

1L DOOR SLIDE DEPLOYED BY 'A' FLT ATTENDANT AT GATE. I; THE CAPT; HAD ENTERED THE CABIN AFTER POSTFLT CHK. WE ARRIVED 5 MINS LATE AT GATE AND WAITED APPROX 15 MINS FOR JETWAY OPERATOR. ACFT WAS VERY WARM DUE TO APU BLEED AIR INOP AND MEL'ED. PAX WERE VERY ANXIOUS TO GET OFF AIRPLANE. 'A' FLT ATTENDANT MADE SURE 1L DOOR WAS DISARMED AND HAD INTENDED TO CRACK DOOR FOR VENTILATION DUE TO MEL. UPON DOING SO; THE 1L DOOR SLIDE DEPLOYED. WE DETACHED SLIDE TO ALLOW JETWAY TO FINALLY COME UP TO AIRPLANE AFTER WAITING 15-20 MINS. BOTTOM LINE: NOBODY TO MEET AIRPLANE 15-20 MINS; AIRPLANE WAS HOT AND THE 'A' FLT ATTENDANT WAS SKILLFULLY TRYING TO HELP. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 779292: I FEEL THE DUTY DAY WAS EXCESSIVE LEADING TO CREW FATIGUE. WAITING FOR A JETWAY OPERATOR ELEVATED THE FRUSTRATION LEVEL COMBINING WITH HEAT IN THE CABIN. FRUSTRATING PAX ANXIOUS TO DEPLANE LED TO THE INCIDENT AS WELL. PROPERLY STAFF THE AIRLINE SO ARRIVING ACFT AND PAX CAN RECEIVE THE PROPER LEVEL OF SVC UPON ARR. KEEP DUTY PERIODS WITHIN REASONABLE LIMITS TO REDUCE FATIGUE.
