FOLLOWING A LONG DAY OF CROSS COUNTRY FLYING; PLT OF C152 FORGETS TO REFUEL PRIOR TO ANOTHER LEG. DEADSTICK LNDG TO A NEARBY MILITARY ARPT ENSUES.
I HAD LEFT FROM MY HOME BASE ZZZ1 AFTER HAVING FINISHED A XCOUNTRY FLT FROM ZZZ1 TO ZZZ TO ZZZ3. DURING THIS FLT I HAD REFUELED THE ACFT AT ZZZ MUNICIPAL. AFTER COMPLETING THE FLT BACK TO ZZZ2; I HAD SPENT SOME TIME DOING MULTIPLE TOUCH-AND-GO LNDGS. THEREAFTER; I SECURED THE ACFT AND PARKED THE ACFT AT THE APRON. APPROX 45 MINS LATER; I CHKED THE FUEL LEVERS IN MY ACFT AND I GOT INTO MY ACFT WITH THE INTENTION OF TAXIING TO THE SELF FUEL PUMPS TO GET SOME AVGAS 100LL FUEL FOR MY ACFT. AFTER THE COMPLETION OF MY PREFLT CHK; IT ESCAPED MY MIND TO TAXI TO THE SELF REFUEL STATION. I TAXIED TO THE DEP END OF RWY 25R. (I UNDERSTAND THAT THIS WAS THE MOMENT OF CRUCIAL ERROR AND FORGETFULNESS ON MY PART.) I TOOK OFF FROM THE ZZZ2 ARPT AND TOOK A R DOWNWIND DEP SO AS TO AVOID TERRAIN N OF THE AIRFIELD. AFTER GAINING SUFFICIENT ALT; I CONTACTED APCH CTL TO REQUEST FLT FOLLOWING TO ZZZ2. I RESUMED MY NAV TO TRACK TO THE ZZZ MIL VOR AS ZZZ2 ARPT WAS IN THE IMMEDIATE VICINITY OF THE PARTICULAR VOR. ON BEING HANDED OFF TO MIL APCH BY APCH; I TUNED THE RADIO FREQ TO 119.90. I CONTINUED TO RESUME NAV TO THE ZZZ2 ARPT. SOON MIL APCH CLRED ME FOR DSCNT THROUGH CLASS D AIRSPACE AT MIL BASE. FEW MINS LATER; APCH CTL ASKED IF I HAD ZZZ2 IN SIGHT. I CONFIRMED THAT I HAD THE ARPT IN SIGHT. APCH CTL THEN CANCELED FLT FOLLOWING AND AUTH ME TO CHANGE FREQ; SQUAWK 1200. AFTER ACKNOWLEDGING THE CALL; I CHANGED FREQ TO THE AWOS FREQ AT THE ZZZ2 ARPT TO OBTAIN THE CURRENT WINDS. I PROCEEDED TO CHANGE THE FREQ TO THE ZZZ2 CTAF TO ADVISE ANY POSSIBLE TFC OF MY WHEREABOUTS AND TO ANNOUNCE MY INTENTIONS TO LAND. IMMEDIATELY AFTER THIS CALL; MY ENG STOPPED AND I BEGAN TO TRIM THE ACFT SO AS TO OBTAIN AN AIRSPD THAT WOULD GIVE ME MAX GLIDING DISTANCE. I TURNED L OF MY PRESENT POS TO GO BACK TO MIL ARPT AS THIS WAS THE ARPT CLOSEST TO ME WHERE I DETERMINED I COULD LAND SAFELY WITHOUT HARM TO LIFE OR PROPERTY. IMMEDIATELY AFTER FOLLOWING RECOMMENDED PROCS FOR THE EMER; I CONTACTED MIL APCH CTL ON THE FREQ 119.9 AND INFORMED THEM ABOUT MY SITUATION AND DECLARED AN EMER. APCH CTL ADVISED ME TO CONTACT TWR. ON SWITCHING TO TWR FREQ; I WAS ADVISED TO LAND ON RWY 21R. I ACKNOWLEDGED. AFTER REVIEWING THE READINGS OF MY ALTIMETER; I ADVISED TWR THAT I MAY BE UNABLE TO GLIDE TO RWY 21R AND REQUESTED FOR PERMISSION TO LAND ON RWY 21L. AFTER MIL TWR CLRED ME TO LAND ON RWY 21L; I MADE A SAFE LNDG ON RWY 21L. I WAS GIVEN PERMISSION TO TAXI ACROSS THE RWY 21R AND HOLD POS AFTER WHICH EMER VEHICLES WOULD ESCORT ME. AFTER BEING DETAINED FOR SECURITY PURPOSES; I WAS ESCORTED TO THE ZZZ2 ARPT BY AN OFFICER TO TRY AND OBTAIN SOME 100LL AVIATION FUEL AS THE MIL ARPT DID NOT CARRY THAT GRADE OF FUEL. I PURCHASED A 5 GALLON GAS CAN WHICH I FILLED UP TO THE BRIM; WITH 100LL AT ZZZ2. THE OFFICER THEN TOOK ME BACK TO THE ACFT WHERE I WAS ALLOWED TO DISPENSE FUEL INTO THE ACFT. THEREAFTER; I WAS ESCORTED TO THE BASE MGR OFFICE WHERE I HAD TO FILL UP SOME FORMS. I WAS ALLOWED TO LEAVE THE BASE UPON COMPLETION OF THE FORMALITIES AND TAKE OFF. MY FLT RTE TOOK ME DIRECTLY FROM MIL ARPT TO ZZZ2 WHERE I WAS ABLE TO LAND SAFELY AND HAVE MY ACFT REFUELED. UPON COMPLETION OF THE REFUELING PROCESS; I TOOK OFF FROM ZZZ2 DIRECT TO ZZZ1.
