FLT CREW FAILED TO NOTICE CHANGE IN DEP ON THE PDC. ANOMALY WAS DISCOVERED WHEN ATC ISSUED CLRNC DIRECT TO A FIX WHICH HAD NOT BEEN PROGRAMMED INTO THE FMC.

Narrative

ON CLBOUT FROM LAX; SOCAL CLEARED US DIRECT TO PEEVE WHICH I COULD NOT FIND ON OUR RTE; SO ASKED HIM TO REPEAT AND CLARIFY THE INSTRUCTION. WE HAD THE FILED RTE OF THE LAXX5 TRM RTE IN OUR FMC. ATC QUERIED US AS TO WHAT OUR CLRNC WAS AND I ANSWERED THE LAXX5 TRM. AFTER LOOKING AT THE PRINTED COPY OF OUR PDC I SAW THERE WAS A REVISED SEGMENT WITH THE HOLTZ 9 DEP. I TOLD ATC ABOUT THE REVISED SEGMENT AND APOLOGIZED. ONE OF THE BIGGEST CONTRIBUTING FACTORS TO MISSING THIS REVISED SEGMENT WAS THAT WHEN THE CAPT WAS PROGRAMMING THE FMC WITH THE FILED RTE THERE WAS NO LAXX5 IN THE DATABASE; JUST THE LAXX3. WE GOT INTO MULTIPLE DISCUSSIONS AS TO WHETHER THE DATABASE WAS OUT OF DATE (IT WAS NOT) AND HOW TO FLY THE DEP (IN MANUAL USING HEADING SELECT SINCE WE WERE UNSURE OF THE VALIDITY OF THE LAXX3). WE WERE TALKING ABOUT THIS RIGHT BEFORE TAKEOFF. ANOTHER CONTRIBUTING FACTOR TO MISSING THE REVISED SEGMENT FOR ME WAS MY STRESS AND DISTRACTION FROM THE COMPANY ANNOUNCEMENT TO GND ACFT RECENTLY. I KNOW THAT WE ARE SUPPOSED TO BE ABLE TO COMPARTMENTALIZE BUT I AM SO EXTREMELY WORRIED ABOUT HOW I'M GOING TO BE ABLE TO SUPPORT MYSELF AND MY CHILD IF I AM FURLOUGHED. THIS IS VERY OVERWHELMING AND DIFFICULT TO KEEP MY MIND OFF.
