Synopsis

ACR CAPT REPORTS THAT THE ARPT DIAGRAM FOR MMPR IS OUT OF DATE. TXWY DESIGNATIONS HAVE CHANGED AND A LARGE NEW TERMINAL HAS BEEN BUILT.

Narrative

TAXIING-IN AFTER LANDING MMPR; GIVEN INSTRUCTIONS TO TAXI VIA A AND E TO RAMP; SPOT X. PROCEEDED AS INSTRUCTED HOWEVER GROUND ADVISED US WE HAD MISSED OUR TURN ONTO E; HOLD POSITION. NO OTHER TRAFFIC NOTED TO BE MOVING ON TAXIWAYS OR RAMP AREA. BOTH FO AND I UNCLEAR ON PROBLEM UNTIL THE ENTRANCE TAXIWAY; E; AS WE HAD REVIEWED AND PLANNED WAS SIGNED WITH F. THE CHART WE WERE USING IS STILL IN THE LEP BUT IS VERY MUCH OUT OF DATE. WE DISCOVERED THAT ON THE CHART; D IS REALLY E; AND E IS REALLY F. ALSO; THERE IS A NEW TERMINAL IN THE CENTER OF THE RAMP AND THAT SPOT X IS ON THE NEW TERMINAL; NOT TO THE FAR NORTH END OF THE RAMP. TOWER WAS NOT OVERLY CONCERNED AND SEEMED UNAWARE THAT OUR CHARTS WERE SO INCORRECT. THE EVENT OCCURRED; IN MY OPINION; BECAUSE A TERMINAL THAT HAD BEEN OPERATIONAL FOR 'AT LEAST 6 MONTHS' (ACCORDING TO A GATE AGENT) AND AIRPORT DESIGNATIONS HAD NOT BEEN UPDATED. HOW THIS MESS COULD BE HAPPENING FOR SO LONG PRECLUDES A RATIONAL REASON WHY THIS IS THE SITUATION.CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: RPTR STATED THESE CHANGES HAVE EXISTED FOR AT LEAST SIX MONTHS AND PERHAPS AS LONG AS A YEAR. IT IS VERY DISCONCERTING FOR FLT CREWS TO FIND THAT THEIR CHARTS DO NOT ACCURATELY REFLECT THE ACTUAL ARPT LAYOUT.
