B767 FLT CREW REPORTS CARGO DOOR WARNING AT FL320 AND RETURN TO DEPARTURE ARPT. INTERMITTENT COM FAILURES OCCUR DURING ARRIVAL AND UNEVENTFUL LANDING.

Narrative

PRIOR TO TKOF WE HAD A WRITE-UP ABOUT THE FORWARD CARGO DOOR LIGHT. MAINT NEEDED TO VISUALLY CHK IT AFTER CLOSING. WE THOUGHT ALL WAS CHKED; ALL DOOR LIGHTS WERE OUT; SO WE PUSHED. AFTER PUSHBACK; MAINT SAID THEY NEEDED TO DO ANOTHER CHK ON THE DOOR. WE WENT BACK TO GATE AND CHK WAS COMPLETED AND OFF WE WENT. NORMAL TKOF AND CLBOUT. AT INITIAL CRUISE ALT OF FL320 THE CARGO DOORS LIGHTS AND FORWARD CARGO DOOR EICAS CAME ON. LOTS OF TSTMS IN AREA AND WE WERE OVER THE ATLANTIC. PRESSURIZATION WAS NORMAL. BECAUSE OF THESE FACTORS; WE ELECTED TO STAY HIGH AND TALK WITH MAINT CTL. CONFERENCE CALL WITH MAINT CTL AND DISPATCH TOLD US THERE WAS A CONFLICT BTWN FLT MANUAL AND MEL. ALL AGREED IT BEST TO RETURN TO ZZZ. STAYED HIGH UNTIL SAFELY PAST THE STORMS. DUMPED FUEL 200 MI S OF ZZZ1. ON ARR AT 10000 FT; WE LOST VHF COM. TRIED BOTH RADIOS FROM ALL 3 CREW POS AND VARIOUS FREQS. COULDN'T GET ANYONE. AFTER ZZZZZ INTXN; WE MADE AN INITIAL TURN TOWARD LNDG RWY. WITH NO COM; WE DECIDED TO GET BACK ON ARR TO GIVE US MORE TIME TO TALK TO SOMEONE. WE TALKED TO TWR BRIEFLY AND THEN TALKED WITH APCH AND FOUND OUT THEY WERE CHANGING RWYS. GOT VECTOR FOR VISUAL AND LOST COM AGAIN. GOT LNDG CLRNC FROM ZZZ GND AT 500 FT. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 797533: DISPATCHED WITH FORWARD CARGO DOOR ELECTRIC MOTOR INOP. MAINT HAD TROUBLE VERIFYING IT CLOSED; BUT FINALLY DID AFTER A RETURN TO THE GATE AFTER PUSHBACK. TKOF WAS NORMAL WITH ALL INDICATIONS NORMAL. REACHING CRUISE ALT OF FL320; FORWARD DOOR EICAS AND CARGO DOORS OVERHEAD LIGHTS CAME ON.
