Synopsis

CRJ900 FO REPORTS GEAR FAILS TO EXTEND NORMALLY DURING APPROACH. NORMAL LANDING ENSUES AFTER MANUAL EXTENSION WITH INOPERATIVE NOSEWHEEL STEERING.

Narrative

ON APCH TO ZZZ WHEN THE GEAR HANDLE WAS SELECTED DOWN; WE RECEIVED A 'GEAR DISAGREEMENT' WARNING MESSAGE AND AURAL ALERT. NO MOVEMENT WAS HEARD OF THE LNDG GEAR FROM THE FLT DECK WHEN THE GEAR HANDLE WAS SELECTED DOWN. A MISSED APCH WAS IMMEDIATELY EXECUTED AND ATC ISSUED DELAY VECTORS. WHILE BEING VECTORED AROUND; THE CAPT WENT THROUGH THE EMER CHKLIST WHICH DIRECTED US TO MANUAL DEPLOYMENT OF THE LNDG GEAR. WITH THE EMER GEAR HANDLE PULLED; WE RECEIVED 3 GREEN DOWN AND LOCKED INDICATIONS ON THE EICAS. THE CHKLIST HAD A NOTE THE NOSEWHEEL STEERING MAY BE AFFECTED. THE CAPT AND I BRIEFED THE LNDG IF WE WERE TO LOSE NOSEWHEEL STEERING DURING THE LNDG. UPON TOUCHDOWN; A STEERING INOP CAUTION MESSAGE APPEARED FOLLOWED BY A SINGLE CHIME. THE CAPT TOOK CTL OF THE AIRPLANE AND USED DIFFERENTIAL BRAKING/THRUST TO TAXI THE ACFT NEAR THE GATE. IN THE MEANTIME; I TALKED TO DISPATCH; MAINT; OPS; AND THE FLT ATTENDANT; AND LET THEM KNOW OF THE SITUATION. WE ENDED UP TAXIING OUTSIDE THE GATE AND PROCEEDED TO SHUT DOWN THE ENGS. WE WERE THEN MET BY GND CREW WHO USED THE TUG TO BRING US IN TO THE GATE.
