WITH PASSENGERS ONBOARD A B757-200; A MECHANIC IS CALLED TO SECURE LOOSE MOULDING ON PASSENGER SEATS AND BLOCK OFF ANOTHER WITH CARGO PIT TAPE. TWENTY-FOUR DAYS LATER HE IS ASKED ABOUT THE UTILITY KNIFE HE USED; BUT COULD NOT FIND.
ON THE MORNING OF JUL/XA/08 AT APPROX XA00; I RECEIVED A CALL STATING THERE WAS SOME MOULDING COMING OFF ABOVE SEAT 34ABC. I WENT UP ON A LIFT TRUCK TO THE AFT L DOOR. I SECURED THE MOLDING; AND THEN AS I WAS LEAVING; THE FLT ATTENDANT POINTED OUT A DAMAGED PART ON SEAT 34D. I NOTICED THE BUMPER WAS BROKEN AND USED SOME PIT TAPE TO SECURE IT. I USED A GRAY UTILITY KNIFE TO CUT THE TAPE. THEN; AGAIN; AS I WAS ABOUT TO LEAVE; MY LEAD CALLED AND ASKED ME ABOUT SEAT 27B. I WENT AND LOOKED AT IT BUT THERE WAS A PAX IN IT. I ASKED THEM ABOUT THE SEAT AND THEY SAID IT WAS FINE. SO THEN I LEFT. A FEW MINS LATER; WE WERE ASKED BY ZZZ CTL ABOUT THE SEAT AND WAS ASKED TO GO BACK OUT TO THE PLANE. I QUESTIONED THE PAX AGAIN AND THAT'S WHEN THEY TOLD ME THE SEAT WAS WET. I SWITCHED CUSHIONS WITH 27E AND INOP'ED SEAT 27E. I USED THE GRAY UTILITY KNIFE AGAIN TO CUT SOME PIT TAPE TO INOP THE SEAT. TODAY; 24 DAYS LATER; THE SHIFT FOREMAN CAME AND QUESTIONED ME ABOUT THE KNIFE. I CHKED MY TOOLBOX AND REALIZED AT THAT TIME I DIDN'T HAVE THE KNIFE. THE CALLS WERE RIGHT BEFORE DEP AND I SUPPOSE I GOT IN A HURRY SO THE PLANE COULD LEAVE. I NEED TO BE MORE AWARE ABOUT WHAT I BRING ON THE PLANE AND MAKE SURE I LEAVE WITH EVERYTHING I BRING ON.
