LCL CTLR PUT SMA IN POSITION ON ACTIVE RWY AND GOT DISTRACTED WITH OTHER TRAFFIC. LGT ON FINAL MADE GO AROUND WHEN HE SAW THE SMA ON THE RWY.
LGT X RPTED 10 MI SE OF THE ARPT AND WAS GIVEN A STRAIGHT IN RWY 32. AT THE SAME TIME THE SMA Y REQUESTED TKOF CLRNC RWY 32 AND WAS INSTRUCTED TO TAXI INTO POS AND HOLD DUE TO DEPARTING TFC ON A XING RWY (22). AT THE SAME TIME AN ADDITIONAL IFR INBND SMA RPTED 5 MI NE OF THE ARPT; VISUAL APCH; RWY 22. BEHIND THE LGT X WAS AN SMT AND BEHIND HIM WAS AN SMA. I BECAME INVOLVED WITH ADVISING THE LNDG SMA THAT IF HE CONTINUED FOR RWY 22; HE WOULD BE LNDG WITH A QUARTERING TAILWIND. THE SMA PLT SAID HE WOULD LIKE RWY 32 INSTEAD. THE SMA WAS SEQUENCED BEHIND THE LGT X AND AHEAD OF THE APCHING SMT. THE LGT X WAS POINTED OUT TO THE SMA AND THE SMA RPTED VISUAL CONTACT AND WAS TOLD TO FOLLOW THE LGT X. IMMEDIATELY AFTER THIS LENGTHY (TOTAL: 2 MINS) COM WITH THE SMA; THE LGT X RPTED HE WAS GOING AROUND. IT WAS AT THAT INSTANT I REALIZED IN MY PREOCCUPATION WITH THE SMA; I HAD NOT GIVEN THE SMA Y (HOLDING ON THE RWY) A TKOF CLRNC. THE LGT X INITIATED A GO AROUND APPROX 1/2 MI FROM THE APCH END OF THE RWY AND WAS GIVEN INSTRUCTIONS TO MAKE A LEFT TURN BACK TO RWY 32. ONCE THE LGT X WAS OBSERVED IN A TURN; THE SMA Y WAS CLRED FOR TKOF. THE LGT X WAS THEN VECTORED IN BEHIND THE LNDG SMT AND LANDED W/O FURTHER INCIDENT.
