LGT HAS FIRE WARNING DURING INITIAL CLIMB OUT OF LGA.
AFTER NORMAL START AND TAXI ACFT WAS CLRED FOR TKOF. AT APPROX 500' MSL #2 ENG FIRE WARNING LIGHT AND BELL CAME ON. BELL WAS SILENCED AND EMER WAS DECLARED. ACFT CONTINUED TO CLB TO APPROX 1000' MSL. #2 ENG THRUST LEVEL WAS RETARDED TO IDLE AND FIRE LIGHT EXTINGUISHED. ENG INDICATIONS WERE EGT 360 DEGS C; #2 ENG GENERATOR OIL TEMP 80 DEGS C (NORMAL); #2 ENG OIL TEMP INCREASED TO 120 DEGS C (NORMAL). CAPT HAD MADE THE TKOF; AND NOW CTL OF ACFT WAS GIVEN TO F/O. CAPT AND S/O PERFORMED ENG FIRE CHKLIST; TO #2 ENG THRUST LEVER TO IDLE. ALL ENG INDICATIONS WERE NOW NORMAL; NO FIRE LIGHT; AND NO SMOKE OR FIRE HAD BEEN RPTED BY TWR OR OTHER GND OBSERVERS. CAPT INSTRUCTED F/O TO FLY A HDG AND CLB TO 5000'. ENG FIRE CHKLIST WAS PERFORMED; WITH INSTRUCTIONS FROM CAPT NOT TO MOVE ANY LEVERS OR SWITCHES; SIMPLY READ AND OBSERVE INDICATIONS. CHKLIST READING WAS COMPLETED AND CAPT INSTRUCTED S/O TO PERFORM ENG FIRE TEST. THE #2 ENG FIRE TEST TESTED NORMALLY. THE #2 ENG WAS RETURNED TO CLB PWR WITH NO ADVERSE INDICATIONS AND NO FIRE WARNING. CAPT AT THIS TIME CANCELLED THE EMER. MAINT IN MSP WAS NOTIFIED. CAPT MADE DECISION TO CONTINUE THE FLT TO MSP. IN MSP MAINT FOUND A VERY SMALL BLEED AIR LEAK FROM 13TH STAGE AND REPAIRED IT. ACFT RETURNED TO SVC AFTER APPROX 2 HRS. IT IS MY OPINION THAT THERE WAS NO DANGER TO ACFT OR PAX. THE FLT WAS CONDUCTED SAFELY. HOWEVER; IT IS MY OPINION THAT THE ACFT SHOULD HAVE RETURNED TO DEP POINT. THE F/O AND S/O SHOULD HAVE BEEN MORE INSISTENT THAT THE ACFT BE RETURNED; AND CAPT SHOULD HAVE DISCUSSED WITH THE CREW AS TO WHAT THEIR OPINIONS WERE. CAPTS SEEM TO HAVE ALL DECISION MAKING AUTHORITY; BUT SHOULD CONSULT WITH OTHER CREW MEMBERS MORE EFFECTIVELY. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 90332: CAPT WAS REMOVED FROM SVC TO AIRLINE'S PENDING INVESTIGATION OF THIS INCIDENT.
