ACR LGT INBOUND TO CONUS FAILED TO CONACT OCEANIC CTLR AND MAKE REQUIRED POSITION REPORTS.

Narrative

FLT FROM BDA TO BWI ON RTE B24. MONITORING NY COMMERCIAL RADIO HIGH FREQ. BOTH PLTS THOUGHT THE OTHER PLT HAD GIVEN THE CHAMP FIX POS RPT TO NY. THE RPT WAS NOT GIVEN. CONTACT WAS MADE WITH NY CENTER INBND TO SIE ON THE 131 DEG R; APPROX 150 MI DME; AT APPROX XA00. LOOKING BACK ON THE SITUATION; THERE WAS PROBABLY TOO MUCH CONVERSATION IN THE COCKPIT ENRTE. ALTHOUGH I WAS FLYING AND COPLT WAS WORKING THE RADIO (SUPPOSEDLY); I SHOULD HAVE VERIFIED THAT HE HAD MADE THE REQUIRED POS RPTS. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 95357: GAVE POS TO BDA DEP; CLRED TO ENRTE. NEVER CONTACTED NY OCEANIC CTL; DID NOT REALIZE WE HAD NOT CONTACTED OCEANIC CTL UNTIL WE WERE SELCALED OVER CHAMPS. AS A S/O; I SHOULD HAVE BEEN PAYING MORE ATTN TO THE RADIO CONVERSATIONS. I SHOULD HAVE AT LEAST MADE SURE POS RPTS WERE BEING MADE. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 95359: POS RPT NOT GIVEN ALONG FLT PLAN UNTIL REACHING CHAMPS. A POS RPT WAS GIVEN AT GABES; BUT I THOUGHT THE INSTRUCTIONS WERE TO RPT CHAMP. MADE CONTACT AT CHAMPS; LANDED BWI.
