Synopsis

ACR LTT STRUCK DEER ON TKOF RUN. TKOF ABORTED. ACFT DAMAGED.

Narrative

WE LEFT THE GATE AT XA20 LOCAL ON FLIGHT TO MONROE WITH 3 PASSENGERS AND 5 BAGS. TEXARKANA GND CLRED US TO TAXI TO RUNWAY 22. THE TAXI AND BEFORE TKOF CHECKLISTS WERE ACCOMPLISHED NORMALLY AND IT WAS TO BE THE FIRST OFFICER'S SEGMENT. DURING THE TKOF ROLL; AFTER THE FIRST OFFICER HAD ASSUMED DIRECTIONAL CONTROL; WE HIT SOMETHING ON THE RUNWAY. OUR AIRSPEED WAS BETWEEN 85 AND 95 KIAS AND OUR V1 WAS CALCULATED AT 102 KIAS SO WE ABORTED THE TKOF AND EXITED THE RUNWAY AT TXWY DELTA. REVERSE AND BRAKING WERE USED AND THE ABORT WAS NORMAL WITH NO LOSS OF DIRECTIONAL CONTROL. AFTER WE CLRED THE RWY; THE F/O NOTIFIED THE TWR THAT HAD ABORTED. AFTER THE ABORT WE BECAME AWARE OF A VIBRATION COMING FROM ONE OF THE ENGINES. THE F/O SAID THAT HE HAD SEEN SOMETHING HIT THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE ACFT. SINCE THERE HAD BEEN NO ABNORMAL ENGINE INDICATIONS AT THE TIME OF THE ABORT WE CONDUCTED A NORMAL SHUT DOWN OF THE RIGHT ENGINE AND THE VIBRATIONS STOPPED. EVIDENTLY WE HIT A DEER ABOUT 2100' DOWN RWY 22. THE ACFT WAS TAXIED BACK TO THE GATE WHERE THE PASSENGERS WERE DEPLANED. NONE OF THE PASSENGERS APPEARED TO BE INJURED NOR DID ANYONE COMPLAIN OF ANY INJURIES AS THEY GOT OFF THE AIRPLANE. ALSO NONE OF THE PASSENGERS SEEMED TO BE CONCERNED; UPSET; OR SHAKEN UP. ONE OF THE TWR CTLRS MET US INSIDE AND TOLD US THAT WE HAD INDEED HIT A DEER. DURING THE TAXI AND TKOF ROLL I HAD BEEN WATCHING FOR MOVEMENT ALONG THE TXWY AND RUNWAYS AND WATCHING FOR SHINING EYES. THE CTLR SAID THAT NEITHER HE OR THE TRAINEE HE WAS MONITORING SAW ANY ACTIVITY AROUND THE RWY. WE WERE NOT ISSUED AN ADVISORY FOR DEER DURING TAXI OR PRIOR TO RECEIVING TKOF CLRNC.
