CHARTER SMT IN FRT OPERATION UNAUTH PENETRATION OF AIRSPACE.

Narrative

FROM PHX TO IPL ON A CARGO OPERATION. I FLEW AN SMT EQUIPPED WITH 2 NAVCOMS AND DME; ALL IN WORKING CONDITION. AS I WAS AT THE POS R070 45 DEM INBND BZA VOR I CONTACTED YUM APCH CTL; RPTING POS AND REQUESTING FLT FOLLOWING THROUGH YUMA AREA. AFTER RADAR CONTACT ESTABLISHED; THE CTLR TOLD ME THAT I WAS IN A RESTR AREA AND TO TURN LEFT TO 180 DEGS FOLLOWING BY CORRECTION TO 150 DEGS. (MY HDG AT THAT TIME WAS 250 DEGS.) ABOUT 2-3 MINS AFTER FLYING THE NEW HDG (ABOUT 6 NM AT A TAS OF 150 KTS WITH CALM WIND) HE TOLD ME TO RESUME OWN NAV. AT THAT POINT THE VOR WAS INDICATING RADIAL OF 075 DEGS AND 43 DME INBND BZA VOR. I WAS NEVER N TO THE 070 DEG R BZA VOR; WHICH I ALWAYS USE AS GUIDANCE TO AVOID THE RESTR AREA (R-2307). SINCE THE CTLR ASKED FOR MY NAME; CERTIFICATE NUMBER AND OTHER PERSONAL DETAILS; I ASSUME THIS INCIDENT WILL BE RPTED TO THE FAA. IN MY OPINION; THERE MUST BE SOMETHING WRONG WITH THE RADAR ACCURACY IF 2-3 MINS OF FLYING AT THAT SPD I WILL BE AT THE 075 DEG R WHICH IS ABOUT 6 NM S OF THE RESTR AREA. (THE CTLR CLAIMED THAT HE SAW ME 16 NM N OF THE 075 DEG R WHICH PUT ME 12 NM IN THE RESTR.) LET ME MENTION THAT MYSELF AND OTHER COMPANY PLT HAD SIMILAR EXPERIENCE WITH YUM RADAR APCH CTL WHICH TURNED OUT THAT WE WERE NOT AT THE POS THAT THE RADAR INDICATED.
