NTSB Safety Recommendation — Aviation
Recommendation text
TO THE FEDERAL AVIATION ADMINISTRATION: Develop a new reporting matrix on the General Aviation and Air Taxi Activity Survey form that separates the administrative purpose of flight (for example, personal, business, corporate, regional, air taxi, air tours, sightseeing, public use, air medical services, search and rescue, and so on) from the actual flying activity performed (for example, transport of passengers, flight instruction, aerial observation, aerial application, external load, and so on). Incorporate these changes in published flight hour estimates.
In plain language (FlightFinder summary)
The Federal Aviation Administration is asked to create a new reporting matrix on the General Aviation and Air Taxi Activity Survey form that distinguishes the administrative purpose of a flight (like personal, business, or air taxi) from the actual flying activity performed (such as passenger transport or flight instruction). These changes should then be incorporated into published flight hour estimates.
This plain-language summary is written by FlightFinder to explain the recommendation above. It is not the official wording — the verbatim NTSB text is quoted above.
