Recommendation text
TO THE FEDERAL AVIATION ADMINISTRATION: Carefully review all existing and proposed guidance and training provided to pilots of transport-category airplanes concerning special maneuvers intended to address unusual or emergency situations and, if necessary, require modifications to ensure that flight crews are not trained to use the rudder in a way that could result in dangerous combinations of sideslip angle and rudder position or other flight parameters.
In plain language (FlightFinder summary)
The FAA is asked to review all existing and proposed guidance and training for pilots of transport-category airplanes on special maneuvers for unusual or emergency situations. If necessary, the FAA must require modifications to ensure that flight crews are not trained to use the rudder in a way that could produce dangerous combinations of sideslip angle and rudder position or other flight parameters.
This plain-language summary is written by FlightFinder to explain the recommendation above. It is not the official wording — the verbatim NTSB text is quoted above.
