NTSB Safety Recommendation — Aviation

Recommendation text

The National Transportation Safety Board recommends that the Federal Aviation Administration: Prohibit the operators of single-engine helicopters equipped with Rolls-Royce Model 250 series IV engines from operating in those altitude/airspeed combinations under which a safe autorotational landing is not probable until it is shown that the operation of these engines provides an adequate margin of safety.

In plain language (FlightFinder summary)

The National Transportation Safety Board asks the Federal Aviation Administration to forbid single-engine helicopters with Rolls-Royce Model 250 series IV engines from flying at altitudes and speeds where a safe autorotational landing is unlikely, unless the engines are proven to have a sufficient safety margin.

This plain-language summary is written by FlightFinder to explain the recommendation above. It is not the official wording — the verbatim NTSB text is quoted above.
