TO THE SOARING SOCIETY OF AMERICA: Using the circumstances of the August 28, 2006, midair collision near Smith, Nevada, inform your members, glider clubs, chapters, and glider fixed-base operators of the circumstances of this accident and, through your publications, Web site, and conferences, as appropriate, use the information to encourage voluntary transponder installations and emphasize the importance of their use, as required by 14 Code of Federal Regulations 91.215(c).
