Recommendation text
TO THE CENTERS FOR MEDICARE AND MEDICAID (UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES): If the findings from the evaluation conducted in response to Safety Recommendation A-09-104 reveal that higher levels of reimbursement are required to increase the level of safety, establish a new reimbursement rate structure that considers the level of helicopter emergency medical services transport safety that is required.
In plain language (FlightFinder summary)
The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (U.S. Department of Health and Human Services) is asked to establish a new reimbursement rate structure for helicopter emergency medical services that accounts for the required level of transport safety, but only if an evaluation of a previous recommendation (A-09-104) shows that higher reimbursement is necessary to improve safety.
This plain-language summary is written by FlightFinder to explain the recommendation above. It is not the official wording — the verbatim NTSB text is quoted above.
