NTSB Safety Recommendation — Aviation
Recommendation text
TO THE FEDERAL AVIATION ADMINISTRATION: Instruct installers to document in the Description of Work Accomplished block of Federal Aviation Administration Form 337 how the installer determined the compatibility and interaction between the new supplemental type certificate (STC) and previously installed STCs on the aircraft to show that the new STC will not adversely affect the aircraft’s structural strength, performance, or flight characteristics.
In plain language (FlightFinder summary)
The FAA is asked to require installers to record in the Description of Work Accomplished section of FAA Form 337 how they verified compatibility between a new supplemental type certificate (STC) and any previously installed STCs. This documentation must demonstrate that the new STC does not compromise the aircraft’s structural strength, performance, or flight characteristics.
This plain-language summary is written by FlightFinder to explain the recommendation above. It is not the official wording — the verbatim NTSB text is quoted above.
