Recommendation text
TO THE FEDERAL AVIATION ADMINISTRATION: Revise Federal Aviation Administration Orders JO 7110.65W, “Air Traffic Control”; JO 7110.10Y, “Flight Services”; and JO 7210.3Z, “Facility Operation and Administration,” to ensure that the chapters of the orders that address pilot weather reports (PIREPs) include improved and consistent guidance about PIREP coding, handling, solicitation, and dissemination.
In plain language (FlightFinder summary)
The Federal Aviation Administration is asked to update three of its orders — JO 7110.65W, JO 7110.10Y, and JO 7210.3Z — to provide better and more consistent instructions on how pilot weather reports (PIREPs) should be coded, handled, requested, and shared.
This plain-language summary is written by FlightFinder to explain the recommendation above. It is not the official wording — the verbatim NTSB text is quoted above.
