THE NTSB RECOMMENDS THAT THE FEDERAL AVIATION ADMINISTRATION: REQUIRE AT ALL AIRPORTS CERTIFICATED FOR AIR CARRIER OPERATIONS THAT UNIFORM SIGNS BE INSTALLED WHICH ARE CLASSIFIED BY FUNCTION (E.G., RUNWAY ENTRANCE, RUNWAY EXIT, TAXIWAY INTERSECTION) WITH EACH FUNCTION HAVING A UNIQUE SHAPE, COLOR, AND/OR SIZE SO THAT RUNWAY ENTRANCE SIGNS ARE DISTINGUISHABLE FROM ALL OTHER ADVISORY SIGNS ON AIRPORT PROPERTY.
