NTSB Safety Recommendation — Aviation
Recommendation text
THE NTSB RECOMMENDS THAT THE FEDERAL AVIATION ADMINISTRATION: IN CONJUNCTION WITH SLICK AIRCRAFT PRODUCTS, CONDUCT FLIGHT TESTS OF SLICK MODEL 6220 MAGNETOS AS INSTALLED IN CESSNA 200-SERIES AIRPLANES. THE EFFECTS OF PRESSURE LINE SIZE AND CONFIGURATION ON MAGENTO AIR PRESSURE, FLOW RATE, AND OPERATING CHARACTERISTICS SHOULD BE DETERMINE FOR ALL APPLICABLE FLIGHT REGIMES. IF NECESSARY, SIMILAR TESTS SHOULD BE CONDUCTED OF SLICK MODELS 6220 AND 6224 MAGNETOS AS INSTALLED IN CESSNA MODEL 303 AIRPLANES.
In plain language (FlightFinder summary)
The Federal Aviation Administration is asked to conduct flight tests of Slick Model 6220 magnetos installed in Cessna 200-series airplanes, in conjunction with Slick Aircraft Products. The tests should determine how pressure line size and configuration affect magneto air pressure, flow rate, and operating characteristics across all flight regimes. If needed, similar tests should also be performed on Slick Models 6220 and 6224 magnetos in Cessna Model 303 airplanes.
This plain-language summary is written by FlightFinder to explain the recommendation above. It is not the official wording — the verbatim NTSB text is quoted above.
