THE NTSB RECOMMENDS THAT THE FEDERAL AVIATION ADMINISTRATION: REQUIRE THAT THOSE PERSONNEL CLASSIFIED AS REQUIRED CREWMEMBERS OPERATING EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICE HELICOPTERS WEAR PROTECTIVE CLOTHING AND EQUIPMENT TO REDUCE THE CHANCE OF INJURY OR DEATH IN SURVIVABLE ACCIDENTS. THIS CLOTHING AND EQUIPMENT SHOULD INCLUDE PROTECTIVE HELMETS, FLAME- AND HEAT-RESISTANT FLIGHT SUITS, AND PROTECTIVE FOOTWEAR.
