THE NTSB RECOMMENDS THAT THE FEDERAL AVIATION ADMINISTRATION: ISSUE AN ADVISORY IN ADVISORY CIRCULAR NO. 43-16, GENERAL AVIATION AIRWORTHINESS ALERTS, RELATING TO THE EXHAUST SYSTEMS IN PIPER MODELS PA-32RT-300T, PA-32-301T, PA-32R-301T, AND OTHER TURBOCHARGED AIRPLANES, EMPHASIZING THE IMPORTANCE OF PROPER ASSEMBLY OF V-BAND COUPLED JOINTS; CONDITIONS WHICH MAY CAUSE FAILURE OF THE JOINTS AND THE POTENTIAL FIRE HAZARDS ASSOCIATED WITH SUCH FAILURES; AND THE NEED FOR PERIODIC, DETAILED INSPECTION OF THESE JOINTS.
