THE NTSB RECOMMENDS THAT THE FAA: REQUIRE THAT THE MAINTENANCE INSPECTION PROGRAM OF ALL CERTIFICATE HOLDERS OPERATING PIPER PA-31 SERIES AIRPLANES UNDER 14 CFR PART 135 INCLUDE REQUIREMENTS TO INSPECT PRIMARY AND SECONDARY FLIGHT SURFACE CONTROL TUBE ASSEMBLIES (PUSHRODS) AND ROD END BEARINGS IN THESE AIRPLANES. THE INSPECTIONS SHOULD BE PERFORMED AT APPROPRIATE PERIODIC INTERVALS TO ASSURE CONTINUED INTEGRITY OF THE FLIGHT CONTROL SYSTEM. (URGENT)
