THE NTSB RECOMMENDS THAT THE FAA: EXAMINE THE POLICY THAT ALLOWED THE FAA TO APPROVE MACHINING & OF ALLIEDSIGNAL AIRCRAFT TURBOCHARGER TURBINE SHAFTS WHEN SUCH REPAIRS WERE CONTRARY TO THE PROCEDURES RECOMMENDED BY THE MANUFACTURERS. RESCIND THAT APPROVAL & ISSUE AN AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE REQUIRING THE REMOVAL OF ALL CHROME PLATE TURBINE SHAFTS & REPLACEMENT WITH APPROVED ALLIEDSIGNAL AIRCRAFT TURBOCHARGER TURBINE SHAFTS.
