Synopsis
On 24 August 2019, at approximately 10:15 LT, a Cessna C172H, registered YU-DOM, operated by a private individual, was involved in an accident during the climb phase at Paraćin-Davidovac Airport (LYPN), Paraćin, Serbia. The aircraft had four persons on board—a pilot and three passengers. There were no injuries, and the aircraft was substantially damaged.
Sequence of Events
The pilot and three passengers gathered at the airport to fly to Blace. After refueling, the pilot started the engine, taxied to the stand, and boarded the passengers. He then lined up on the runway, lowered the flaps, applied full power, and began the takeoff roll. The aircraft became airborne after approximately 450–500 meters. During the climb, after passing the runway end and reaching about 500 meters beyond it at an altitude of 100–150 feet, the pilot began to lose control. Unable to return to the airport, the pilot decided to perform an off-field landing on a weedy meadow. On final approach, the right wing struck a tree. The left main wheel then contacted hard ground, shearing off the left main gear leg, and the left wingtip struck the ground. The aircraft, now missing the left wheel, skidded, the propeller contacted the ground, and the aircraft came to a stop. The pilot shut down the magnetos and fuel supply, and he and the passengers evacuated without injury.
Damage and Injuries
The aircraft sustained substantial damage: the right wing and right aileron were separated from the wing structure; the left main gear leg was torn off; the propeller blades were bent; and the left wing lower surface and aileron were damaged. There were no injuries among the four occupants (0 fatalities, 0 injuries).
