Accident Overview
Pan Am Flight 806, operating as a Boeing 707 aircraft named Clipper Radiant, was on a scheduled international flight from Auckland, New Zealand, to Los Angeles, California. The route included intermediate stops at Pago Pago, American Samoa, and Honolulu, Hawaii. On January 30, 1974, during the approach to Pago Pago International Airport, the aircraft crashed.
Casualties
The accident resulted in the deaths of 87 passengers and ten crew members. With 97 fatalities, it stands as the deadliest aviation incident in American Samoan history.
