Incident Overview
An airplane struck a hangar while taxiing after landing. The pilot had passed the intended parking spot and subsequently executed a 180-degree turn to return. To accomplish the turn, the pilot applied high power to the left engine while setting the right engine to idle power. The turn was performed in an area between a parked vehicle and a hangar.
Wing Strike and Brake Issue
During the turn, the airplane's left wing made contact with the hangar, resulting in a collision. The pilot reported that the right brake was not functioning properly. This may have affected the aircraft's turning capability.
Observed Skid Marks
Sheriff's deputies who responded to the scene reported observing skid marks approximately 150 feet in length, made by both main wheels. The skid marks indicate the path of the aircraft during the maneuver.
