Accident Details
A private pilot departed near dusk with a passenger, his brother, for a sightseeing flight over family farms. The pilot intended to show the relative the properties from the air.
Search and Recovery
Shortly after the flight, the pilot's brother heard an aircraft overfly his house around the time of the accident. When the pilot and passenger did not return, a search was initiated. The wreckage was subsequently located between farms that were less than one mile apart.
Wreckage
Upon arrival at the accident site, the aircraft was found occupied by the pilot and his brother. The airplane had struck the ground in a steep nose-down attitude.
Investigation
Investigators examined the airframe and engine after the accident. No mechanical failure was discovered on either the airframe or the engine.
