Incident Overview
A student pilot was conducting a solo flight for pattern and landing practice. The pilot reported that the base leg, final approach, and landing were normal. However, after touchdown, the aircraft began to swerve to the right. The pilot attempted to correct with left rudder input, but the airplane did not respond in time and departed the runway surface, subsequently impacting a ditch.
Aircraft Damage
The airplane sustained substantial damage during the runway excursion and ditch impact. The pilot did not report any mechanical malfunctions with the aircraft prior to or during the flight.

According to the student pilot, the intended purpose of the flight was solo pattern and landing practice. The pilot described the landing as normal until the swerve began. Despite applying corrective rudder, the aircraft continued off the runway and through the ditch.
