Event Details
The pilot was landing at the destination airport. While approaching, the pilot listened to the automated weather observation system (AWOS) broadcast and noted shifting wind conditions. Based on the most recent wind report, the pilot selected a runway. During the flare, the right wing lifted, causing the airplane to veer to the left side of the runway. The pilot applied power to abort the landing, resulting in the left wing lifting. The airplane then dropped onto the runway and slid sideways until coming to rest approximately 100 feet from the runway.
Outcome
No mechanical anomalies were reported. The airplane sustained structural damage to the wings, and the fuselage was wrinkled.
