What happened
On September 9, 2008, at approximately 1820 local time, a Cessna 172R, registration CC-KAZ, crashed into mountains near El Trebolar in the Valparaiso Region of Chile. The aircraft, operated by Club Aereo de Los Andes, was performing a flight from Santo Domingo Airport (SCSN) to San Rafael Airport (SCAN) under Chilean flight regulations.
The impact with the terrain caused substantial damage to the aircraft. The pilot and two passengers sustained 3 fatal injuries.
