Accident Overview
The accident occurred during the initial takeoff of an instructional flight. The student pilot was flying the airplane at the time of the takeoff. Shortly after liftoff, the airplane turned slightly into the wind before entering an aerodynamic stall out of ground effect. The flight instructor immediately assumed control of the airplane and attempted to recover from the stalled condition. However, the airplane impacted the runway nose first and then bounced several times before coming to rest.
Sequence of Events
According to the flight instructor, the takeoff proceeded normally until after liftoff, when the airplane exhibited a slight turn into the wind. This was followed by an aerodynamic stall while the airplane was out of ground effect. The instructor took over the controls and initiated a recovery attempt, but the airplane struck the runway with its nose. After the initial impact, the airplane bounced multiple times before finally coming to a stop on the runway.
Aircraft Damage
The impact resulted in damage to several components of the airplane, including the engine firewall, engine mounts, nose landing gear, lower cowling, and propeller.
