What happened
On February 28, 2009, a Cessna 172N, registration HC-BFQ, was conducting a cargo flight from Aeropuerto Rio de Amazonas (SESM) to Pisto Liquino. The aircraft, operated by Aeroclub Pastaza, was transporting 209 kilograms of cement and iron bars intended for construction.
The pilot last communicated with air traffic control at 1515 UTC, reporting a position at the TOPUS intersection at an altitude of 3,500 feet. On March 1, the wreckage was located near the runway at Pisto Liquino Airport in Provincia de Pastaza, Ecuador. The pilot, who was the sole occupant, sustained 1 fatal injury.
