A military training flight crashed into a residential area during its approach to Mariscal Sucre Airport.

What happened

On March 19, 2009, at approximately 1030 UTC, a Beech BE-200, operating as AEE-101, crashed into a residential neighborhood in Quito, Ecuador. The aircraft, which was being operated by the Ecuadorian Army, was conducting a military training flight that had departed from San Vicente, Ecuador.

As the aircraft was on approach to the Mariscal Sucre Airport (SEQU), it impacted the ground in a residential area. The accident resulted in 7 fatalities, including the two pilots and three passengers on board the aircraft, as well as two individuals on the ground.
