Introduction
On April 29, 2009, a Boeing 737-200 aircraft operated by Bako Air of the Central African Republic was destroyed in a crash near the locality of Massamba, in the District of Kwilu, province of Bandundu, Democratic Republic of Congo. The aircraft, registered as TL-ADM, was conducting a ferry flight.
Accident Details
The flight originated from Brazzaville, Republic of Congo, and was destined for Harare, Zimbabwe. At about 0800 UTC, the aircraft crashed at Massamba. All seven occupants on board were fatally injured, and the aircraft was completely destroyed.
Investigation
The Ministry of Transport and Communication of the Democratic Republic of Congo is leading the investigation into the accident. The United States National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has designated an Accredited Representative to support the investigation under the provisions of ICAO Annex 13.
