Accident Details
On October 3, 2009, at 1130 Western Standard Time, an Air Tractor AT-502, registered VH-ODP, was involved in an accident while maneuvering approximately 47 kilometers east northeast of Narrogin, Australia. The aircraft was operated by Agricair Pty Limited and was conducting an agricultural flight. Visual meteorological conditions prevailed at the time of the accident.
Flight and Impact
According to Australian investigators, the aircraft departed from a paddock on a property to perform agricultural spraying operations. A short time after takeoff, the owner of the property discovered the wreckage, which had impacted the ground in an inverted attitude. There were no witnesses to the accident. The aircraft sustained substantial damage, and the commercial pilot, the sole occupant, was killed.
