What happened
On May 28, 2010, at 17:08 UTC, a Cirrus Design Corporation SR20, registered as LN-BCD, crashed into mountainous terrain near Sirdal, Norway. The flight originated from Stavanger Airport (ENZV) and was traveling toward Jarlsberg Airport (ENJB).
While cruising at 9,000 feet MSL, the aircraft encountered instrument meteorological conditions and structural icing. In response to the conditions, the pilot deployed the Cirrus Airframe Parachute System (CAPS) at 3,000 feet MSL. The impact resulted in substantial damage to the aircraft. All four occupants—the pilot and three passengers—were not injured.
