What happened
On September 3, 2010, a Bell OH-5able helicopter, bearing registration XB-KYY, was performing crop dusting operations near Tuxtlas, Mexico. During the mission, the aircraft impacted the terrain, resulting in substantial damage to the helicopter. At the time of the accident, weather conditions were characterized by visual meteorological conditions.
The accident resulted in 2 fatal injuries, involving the pilot and one passenger.
Mexican investigators noted that a loud noise was heard prior to the helicopter striking the ground. Upon impact, the main rotor blades had already stopped rotating.
