Accident
On February 12, 2011, at 1340 local time (0640 UTC), an Indonesian Aerospace CASA 212-100, registration PK-ZAI, operated by PT. Sabang Merauke Air Charter, crashed under unknown circumstances shortly after taking off from Hang Nadim Airport in Batam, Indonesia. The flight was a test flight conducted following a replacement of its Honeywell TPE331 engine. Its intended destination was Raja Haji Fisabilillah Airport. All five occupants—two pilots and three mechanics—were killed. The aircraft was destroyed.

The aircraft was an Indonesian Aerospace CASA 212-100, registered in Indonesia as PK-ZAI. It was operated by PT. Sabang Merauke Air Charter. The flight was performed as a test flight after an engine change on the Honeywell TPE331 powerplant.
Investigation
The investigation is being conducted by the Indonesian National Transportation Safety Committee (NTSC). The U.S. National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has appointed a U.S. Accredited Representative to assist, as the United States is the state of design and manufacture of the engines. All inquiries should be directed to the NTSC.
