Accident Overview
A pilot reported that during a landing attempt, he performed a go-around on the first approach to runway 4 due to wind conditions. On the second approach, the aircraft was higher than usual, prompting the pilot to increase the rate of descent to land in crosswind and gusting conditions. The airplane impacted the runway, bounced, veered off the side of the runway, and came to rest facing the opposite direction of travel.
Damage Assessment
The accident sequence resulted in substantial damage to the right wing and fuselage. The pilot reported no mechanical anomalies with the airplane.

At the time of the accident, winds reported at an airport 15 miles south of the accident location were from 330 degrees at 10 knots, gusting to 16 knots.
