Flight Details
The pilot stated that he was approaching the airport for landing at an altitude of 2,500 feet. He requested and received clearance from the airport control tower to perform a 360-degree turn to reduce altitude before continuing the landing approach.
Landing and Excursion
Upon crossing the runway threshold, the pilot noted that the airplane's airspeed was too high. Despite this, he elected to continue the landing. After touchdown, the pilot was unable to stop the airplane before it traveled off the end of the runway and collided with a fence. The impact resulted in substantial damage to the left wing.
Pilot Comments
The pilot stated that there were no mechanical malfunctions or anomalies with the airplane. He added that he should have executed a go-around instead of continuing the approach and landing.
