Accident
On September 9, 2011, at 1223 local time (0323 UTC), a Cessna 208B with Indonesian registry PK-VVE collided with mountainous terrain approximately 8 nautical miles northeast of Wamena Airport in Wamena, West Papua, Indonesia. The aircraft was operating a cargo flight under the pertinent provisions of the Indonesia Civil Aviation Regulations. The flight had originated at Wamena Airport and was destined for Kenyam Airstrip in Nduga District, West Papua. Both crew members sustained fatal injuries, and the aircraft was substantially damaged.
Aircraft and Operator
The aircraft involved was a Cessna 208B, a single-engine turboprop commonly used for cargo and passenger operations. The operator was Susi Air, an Indonesian airline. The accident aircraft carried the registration PK-VVE.
