What happened
On November 11, 2011, at 13:45 UTC, a Piper PA-25-260, registration CC-ABM, was performing a takeoff from Melipilla Airport (SCMP) in the Metropolitana region of Chile. During the initial climb phase, the aircraft experienced a partial loss of engine power.
While the aircraft successfully cleared the perimeter fence, it subsequently struck vegetation and came to rest 64 meters beyond the end of the runway. The impact resulted in substantial damage to the airplane. The flight was being operated by Sociedad De Trabajos Aeros Aeropacifico LTDA as a personal flight, and no flight plan had been filed for the trip. Weather conditions at the time were visual meteorological conditions (VMC) with a visibility of 10 statute miles and winds at 000 degrees at 2 knots. The pilot was commercial rated and sustained no injuries.
