What happened
On November 14, 2011, at approximately 2020 UTC, a Cessna 150M, registration HC-BJA, crashed into rising terrain in the Girón Alto mountains near Santa Rosa, Ecuador.
The aircraft, operated by Aero Club del Ecuador, had departed from Santa Rosa Airport (SERO) roughly five minutes prior to the accident. The flight was being conducted under instrument flight rules (IFR) on an en route flight to Jose Joaquín de Olmedo Airport (SEGU) in Guayaquil, Ecuador. At the time of the accident, the aircraft was operating in instrument meteorological conditions (IMC).
The crash resulted in 2 fatal injuries to the pilot and the pilot-rated passenger.
