What happened
On February 17, 2012, a Beech 95-B55, registration N4624A, departed for a flight to another airport to purchase fuel. While approximately 7 miles from the destination, the right engine stopped producing power. The pilot moved the fuel selector to the crossfeed position, which temporarily restored power to the right engine. However, when the aircraft was roughly 2.5 miles from the destination, both engines lost power. The pilot feathered the propellers and performed an off-airport landing on a road. The aircraft subsequently entered a ditch, causing substantial damage to the aft fuselage and left wing. There were no injuries resulting from the accident.
The investigation
Post-accident examination of the aircraft revealed that there was no visible fuel remaining in the fuel tanks.
