2012 Emeraude CP-301-A Crash in Niceville, Florida (N718PP)

Accident Overview and Personnel Information On March 15, 2012, at approximately 1255 central daylight time, an experimental amateur-built Emeraude CP-301-A, N718PP, was destroyed when it struck trees and terrain while returning to Ruckel Airport (FL17) in Niceville, Florida. Both occupants, who held airline transport pilot certificates, were fatally injured. The flight was a personal trip to Yellow River Airstrip (FD93) in Holt, Florida, operated under 14 Code of Federal Regulations Part 91. The pilot/owner, age 59, had 8,549 total flight hours and was awaiting FAA medical certification following a 2008 accident that caused traumatic brain injuries. The pilot in command, age 66, was onboard because the pilot/owner could not legally fly the aircraft solo without medical approval.
