Accident
On November 11, 2012, at approximately 1655 Western European time, a Reims-Cessna F150H single-engine airplane, registration EI-AST, was destroyed when it impacted terrain near Birr Airfield (EIBR) in Birr, Ireland. The two occupants, both pilots, sustained fatal injuries. The aircraft was operated by Ormand Flying Club Ltd. Visual meteorological conditions were present at the time of the accident. The local flight had originated from Birr Airfield.
Investigation
The accident investigation is being conducted under the jurisdiction of the Government of Ireland. The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) designated a U.S. Accredited Representative under the provisions of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Annex 13, as the state of design of the aircraft and engine.
